Asthma Initiative

Design Global Change is currently developing communication materials (brochures, posters, flyers) to promote the activities done at the Wellness Centers and involve the community in participation on Asthma prevention and Treatment initiatives. The materials will be part of the awareness and education the Wellness Centers do to reach out to the communities.

DGC designed the logo showcased in this page and we are currently working on postcards and brochures.

The Healthy Families: Asthma Initiative provides asthma assessment, intervention and education, as well as smoking cessation support to participants in the greater Hartford region who bare a disproportionate burden of disease. The primary target populations are the uninsured and under served such as children, African-Americans and Hispanics. The secondary target populations or subgroups include and are not limited to sexual and gender minorities, immigrants and refuges in addition to the homeless.

Legislative advocacy also plays an important role in the Healthy Families Asthma Initiative. School age children are particularly vulnerable to environmental factors that contribute to asthma severity and control, advocating legislation and contributing to existing guidelines which protects our most vulnerable population not only save lives but reduces the cost of care.
